Laura Geller Baby Cakes Eye Palette Review and Swatches

I picked up this eye palette I believe when ULTA first started carrying Laura Geller. The sparkles must have blinded me because if I were to swatch it again now, I would definitely keep walking. Swatched dry, the shadows are very weak. The only shade that isn't almost pure sparkle is the coppery shadow in the top left. This product appears to not be sold at most retailers anymore, but is available at Macy's and Dermstore when I did a quick check.

As you can see in the palette, there's a whole mess of sparkles everywhere too. The colors are gorgeous but you need something seriously sticky for them to hold on to and apply the color wet. All but the coppery shade are almost all sparkles, you can see the chunks in the swatches.

Buying Beauty Products for Silly Reasons

I'll admit I'm suckered into buying certain beauty products due to a completely silly reason, a connection with space. I have a real love for science, technology, astronomy and science fiction. I have acquired several starry sky type eye and nail colors, and when the name is space related too I can't resist!

  • Sinful Colors in Secret Admirer
  • Sonia Kashuk nail color in Starry Night
  • Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy in Orbit (double space reference!)
  • ULTA Extreme Wear Whipped Eye Shadow in Whipped Stardust

My Collection: Taupe Liners and Cream Shadows (part 2 of 2)

Apologize for the delay getting this liner post up, the previous post in this series covered my taupe shadows and highlighted my favorites. I also made a video covering my favorites here!

First up, my drugstore taupes! The LA Splash Hydro Liquid in Duality is a metallic warm taupe. I find it does not budge or crease if I apply a thin, even layer over the lids (over primer of course!). The CoverGirl Flamed Out pencil in Melted Caramel was bought before my makeup collection was unpacked and possibly during the newborn time during my monthly visit to Walgreens. It has a strange cooling sensation; doesn't have the best pigment or lasting power, I wouldn't recommend it.

Rimmel Taupe, CovereGirl Melted Caramel, LA Splash Duality

Lastly, a definitely favorite is the Rimmel ScandalEyes Kajal in Taupe. Also random note, Jennifer Wan on youtube (channel fashionismycrush, one of my all-time favorites) recently railed on the pronunciation of kajal and I fear I've been saying it wrong too, haha. KA-jul, not ka-JAL! Anyway! Taupe is a lovely cream liner with excellent staying power, I like to use it at my lower lash line for a softer definition than black or dark brown liner, I have a post about it here.

FOTD Physicians Formula Nude, Maybelline LE Nude Embrace lipstick

Hi there! So I've been rather neglectful of the blog of late, I decided I'd do more quick posts using pictures from my much improved new camera on my phone. Some might be from Instagram but with more information, or fast posts of reviews/swatches/what have you.

Here I'm wearing CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Ivory 805 mixed with Illamasqua Skin Base in White. I also used the Guerlain Meteorites deluxe sample primer I got with the Precious Lights kit back ages ago. Now that my skin is less oily, thought I'd see if it was at all exciting since everyone is in love with the Les Ors Meteorites primer from Guerlain. Used twice, so far no excitement from me. We'll see!
